Community Involvement

Community Involvement

At LSSE, we strive to contribute in a positive way to both the community and the civil engineering profession. Whether through volunteering, sponsorships or community education, our company and our employees believe in giving back. We realize that our efforts have long-lasting, positive effects on our clients, employees, and communities. Our recent activities are listed below.

Encouraging the Engineering Profession

Pennsylvania State University Endowment (PSU) Engaging Pittsburgh Program
Beginning with the funding of an endowment, LSSE supports initiatives at PSU that include technology transfer, resource allocation, work force development, research and development and pilot testing scientific and technical ideas with the goal of enhancing business development and associated career opportunities. LSSE’s endowment was amended to allow support of various programs and initiatives of the Penn State Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, including the “Elements of Sustainable Site Design” seminar.

High School Student Job Shadow Program
LSSE has hosted various local high school students at our Coraopolis office for the purpose of job shadowing LSSE employees.

In the Community

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk
LSSE is a proud sponsor of the Annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk held in October at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. LSSE has been a sponsor and had a corporate team at the annual walk for this great cause since 2012!

Pittsburgh Pipeline Summer Career Exploration Program
LSSE hosted two groups of local high school students at LSSE’s Coraopolis headquarters as part of the Pittsburgh Pipeline Summer Career Exploration Program. The 35 high school students were provided an overview of the engineering profession and then participated in several hands-on activities led by LSSE’s Ned Mitrovich and Larry Lennon, Jr.
